What Your Clients Need to Know
The Route Itself
Seminyak transfers are refreshingly simple. From Ngurah Rai Airport, drivers take the Ngurah Rai Bypass heading north, then turn onto Sunset Road (Jalan Raya Seminyak). That's basically it. Twelve kilometers, mostly straight roads, and you're there.
Now, here's where timing matters. Sunset Road earned its name because everyone seems to be on it at sunset. The afternoon/evening rush (roughly 3-7pm) turns this normally quick route into a 40-45 minute crawl. The Seminyak Square intersection is notorious - traffic lights cycle slowly, and there's always someone double-parked outside Bintang Supermarket.
Early morning arrivals (before 7am) are golden - drivers cruise straight through in 25 minutes, sometimes less. Late night (after 9pm) is similarly smooth. Midday is hit or miss depending on whether there's a surf competition or beach club event drawing crowds.
One quirk: Friday and Saturday evenings are busiest. Everyone's heading to beach clubs, restaurants, and night markets. If your clients arrive on weekend evenings, just set expectations accordingly.
Airport Pickup
Bali's international terminal is compact - single arrivals hall, easy to navigate. Drivers wait just outside the customs exit, near the FamilyMart and money changers. Look for the cluster of name board holders near the exit doors.
Immigration queues vary wildly. Australian flights in the afternoon can mean 60-90 minute waits. Red-eye arrivals from Asia often sail through in 20 minutes. We factor in 90-minute waiting time for international arrivals, which covers most scenarios.
Seminyak Drop-off Points
Seminyak stretches along the coast - from the southern end near Petitenget Temple up to the Batu Belig area. Hotels and villas are spread out along several main roads: Jalan Kayu Aya (Laksmana), Jalan Raya Seminyak (Sunset Road), Jalan Petitenget, and the beachfront Jalan Camplung Tanduk.
The main challenge? Narrow gang (alleyway) access. Many boutique villas are tucked down lanes that barely fit a car. Drivers know the area well, but it helps to have the Google Maps pin ready. Some properties have drop-off points at the main road entrance with staff meeting guests.
Beach clubs like Potato Head and Ku De Ta have specific vehicle access points - not always obvious. Drivers know them, but if it's your client's first time, confirm the exact entrance with the hotel beforehand.
