GREEN×EXPO 2027, the International Horticultural Expo in Yokohama, runs from 19 March to 26 September 2027. That's 192 days of gardens, flower exhibits and national pavilions on the former Kamiseya Communication Facility, a site in Yokohama's suburbs that the US military returned to Japan in 2015. The organisers expect 15 million visitors, including regional and ICT-based participation, and more than 10 million paying visitors. Every ticket needs a booked entry time, the site has no railway station of its own, and shuttle buses and coach parking are reservation-only. So Expo 2027 Yokohama is not a turn-up-and-buy attraction, and the planning falls to whoever builds the itinerary.

This guide is for travel agents and tour operators. It covers the Expo 2027 dates, opening hours, ticket prices, timed entry, how visitors reach the site, which weeks will be busiest, who the expo suits, and how to fit it into a Tokyo and Yokohama itinerary. Every price and rule below was checked against the official site on 10 October 2026. Where the organisers haven't decided something yet, we say so.
It isn't the same event as Expo 2027 Belgrade, a separate Specialised Expo in Serbia from 15 May to 15 August 2027.
Key Takeaways
- GREEN×EXPO 2027 runs from Friday 19 March to Sunday 26 September 2027 at the former Kamiseya Communication Facility in Yokohama. The venue is open 9:30 to 21:30, with last admission scheduled for 21:00.
- Every ticket needs a visit date and entry time booked on the official ticket website. Bookings opened on 18 September 2026, first come, first served.
- An advance one-day ticket costs ¥4,900 per adult until 18 March 2027. From 19 March 2027 the regular price is ¥5,500. Group tickets for 15 or more people cost ¥5,200 per adult.
- There is no station at the site. Visitors come by pre-booked shuttle bus from four stations, by pre-booked coach or car parking, or on foot (about 30 minutes from Seya Station).
- Cherry blossom season, Golden Week (29 April and 1 to 5 May 2027) and the September weekends before closing are the pressure points for hotels, shuttle seats and entry slots.

The theme is "Scenery of the Future for Happiness". The organisers frame it around four sub-themes (co-adaptation, co-existence, co-creation and co-operation), which in practice means gardens, green infrastructure, farming and food, and new plant technology. The official site is expo2027yokohama.or.jp.
What Clients Will See at GREEN×EXPO 2027
A horticultural expo is not the same format as Expo 2025 Osaka. The big draw is outdoor garden design, plants and flower displays across a large green site, with pavilions alongside. Clients who expect a city of tech pavilions should be told that up front.
The main pavilions
- Themed Pavilion: an immersive mix of art and entertainment about plants and nature-based solutions, built on current science.
- Horticultural Pavilion: Japanese horticultural aesthetics and techniques handed down since the Edo period, with authentic displays and hands-on activities.
- Japan Pavilion and Garden: presented by the Government of Japan, with indoor and outdoor exhibits on traditional garden design, farm technology and green infrastructure.
Gardens, zones and villages
The organisers' current site plan groups the outdoor exhibits into a Theme Zone, an International Zone with the Gardens of the World, a Japan Zone, and five themed villages: GX, Craft, Kids, Agriculture and Food, and Satoyama. The organisers say these names may still change. As of 9 October 2026 there were 388 flower and greenery exhibitors (a count that includes some provisionally selected exhibitors), including every prefecture in Japan and every government-designated city. Of the indoor exhibitors, 225 are short-term and scheduled week by week, so what a client sees in April won't be identical to what they see in August.
Countries taking part
The organisers say over 60 countries and international organisations will take part as official participants. Signed participation contracts announced so far include Qatar (the first, in May 2025, and host of the previous A1 horticultural expo in Doha), Thailand, the United States, India, Luxembourg, the Philippines, Italy and the International Tropical Timber Organization. Italy plans to reuse architectural and display elements from its Expo 2025 Osaka pavilion. For agents in India, Thailand and the Philippines, a home-country pavilion is an easy selling line.
Some exhibits will use same-day viewing reservations to manage queues. Each ticket gets one viewing reservation per day, released in three stages through the day. The organisers haven't yet said which exhibits will use the system.
Expo 2027 Yokohama Tickets: Prices, Types and Timed Entry
Here are the official ticket prices, checked on 10 October 2026. Ages are counted as at 1 April 2027, except for visits in March 2027, when age as at 1 April 2026 applies.
| Ticket | Adult (18+) | Youth (12–17) | Child (4–11) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One-Day Ticket, advance price | ¥4,900 | ¥3,000 | ¥1,400 | On sale until 18 March 2027; one entry on any day |
| One-Day Ticket, regular price | ¥5,500 | ¥3,300 | ¥1,500 | On sale from 19 March 2027 |
| Night Ticket | ¥3,500 | ¥1,900 | ¥900 | Entry after 17:00; on sale from 19 March 2027 |
| Summer Pass | ¥12,000 | ¥7,000 | ¥3,000 | Unlimited entry, 1 July to 31 August 2027 |
| Season Pass | ¥28,000 | ¥16,000 | ¥6,500 | Unlimited entry for the whole expo |
| General group ticket (15+ people) | ¥5,200 | ¥3,100 | ¥1,400 | One simultaneous entry; bought through an authorised ticket agency |
| School group ticket | High school ¥1,700; junior high, elementary and kindergarten ¥900 | For school groups as defined by the organisers | ||
| Special Discount Ticket | ¥2,800 | ¥1,700 | ¥800 | Disability certificate holders plus one companion |
Children aged 3 and under get in free without a ticket. There is no senior discount. Overseas visitors using the Special Discount Ticket can show an equivalent certificate from home, and no Japanese translation is needed.
Look closely at the group rate. Before 18 March 2027, the advance one-day ticket (¥4,900) is cheaper per adult than the group ticket (¥5,200). After the expo opens, the group ticket beats the regular one-day price (¥5,500) by ¥300 per adult. A group buying early may be better off on advance tickets, as long as the booking logistics work.
Timed entry: how the visit booking works
Visit date and time bookings opened on 18 September 2026 on a first-come, first-served basis, and they cover the whole expo. Every ticket, including paper tickets from agencies, needs one. The entry slots published by the organisers are 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30 and 14:30 for day tickets and passes, plus a 17:00 slot that also takes Night Tickets.
- Visitors can enter at any time on the day after their booked slot, so a 10:30 booking also works at 13:00.
- The organisers plan to cap each slot according to expected crowds.
- Bookings on one-day tickets can be changed up to three times. Passes work differently: a Season Pass can hold up to four booked days at a time, a Summer Pass up to three, and both need a face photo registered first.
- Without a booking, a visitor can only buy and book on the spot if slots are left. If not, they may not get in. Same-day ticket sales at the venue are still under consideration.
- Entry is by QR code. The organisers suggest saving a screenshot or printing it, because mobile signal at the gate may be poor.
How agents can buy tickets for clients
There are three routes, and they are not interchangeable.
- The official ticket website (ticket.expo2027yokohama.or.jp) works from overseas and has an English version. It needs an account. One transaction is capped at 14 tickets and one account can hold up to 100 unused tickets. It takes Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express and Diners Club. Unused tickets can be transferred to another account through a link that expires after 24 hours, and the recipient needs their own account.
- Authorised ticket agencies. The organisers' current list of authorised sellers, published in October 2026, includes JTB, H.I.S., Nippon Travel Agency, KNT-CT, Hankyu Travel International, HANATOUR and others. The list shows which ones sell paper tickets, packages that include tickets, and group booking services, and in which languages. Group and school group tickets are generally bought through these sellers after a provisional booking.
- Becoming a seller yourself. The organisers accept applications from companies that want to sell tickets under contract until 19 July 2027. Applicants need a track record in ticket sales. The consignment contract also needs a company listed in Japan or one with capital of ¥100 million or more. The application guidelines include document rules for overseas companies without a Japanese registration. Enquiries go to the ticket sales centre at [email protected].
One rule matters for pricing. The organisers prohibit unauthorised resale, and travel packages are not sold through the official site. So don't add a markup to tickets your agency bought on the official website. If you want admission inside a package price, work with an authorised agency or apply to become one. Otherwise, have clients buy their own Green Expo 2027 tickets and book their slot, or show admission as a separate line at face value.
Refunds are generally not given, and tickets can't be changed to another type after purchase. Tell clients both before they buy.
Getting to the Expo Site: Shuttle Buses, Coaches and Parking
This is where most quotes will go wrong. The site sits between stations, not on top of one. Shuttle buses and every type of parking must be booked separately from the admission ticket, and the organisers warn that if one booking fails, the other has to be changed. Shuttle and parking bookings opened on 18 September 2026.
| Option | From | Booking | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Four-station shuttle bus (about 10 to 25 minutes) | Seya and Mitsukyo (Sotetsu Main Line), Minami-machida Grandberry Park (Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line), Tokaichiba (JR Yokohama Line) | Required | Adult ¥200, child ¥100 |
| Direct buses | Planned from Shin-Yokohama Station, Yokohama Station, the Minato Mirai and Kannai waterfront, and Haneda Airport | Details not yet announced | Not yet announced |
| Group coach | North or West car park | Required | ¥10,000 (standard coach rate) |
| Car | North or West car park | Required | ¥5,000 weekdays, ¥7,000 weekends and holidays |
| Park and ride (19 busy days only, about 20 to 30 minutes) | AEON Mall Yamato, Ito-Yokado Yamato-Tsuruma and Sagami-Ono car parks | Required | ¥3,000 per car |
| On foot | Seya Station, about 30 minutes | No | Free |

Shuttle bus rules worth knowing
- One booking covers one outbound and one return trip per day, for up to 40 people. That is enough for a coach-sized group on public shuttles.
- Child fares apply from age 1 to under 12. Babies under 1 ride free, and each paying passenger can bring up to two preschool children free.
- Cancellation is free until 17:00 the day before. After that, the fee is 50% until five minutes before the meeting time, and no cancellation is possible after that.
- Passengers should arrive in time for the meeting time on their booking.
Coaches and cars
Coaches use the North or West car park. The organisers advise the North car park for vehicles coming via National Route 246, the Hodogaya Bypass or the Tomei Expressway, and the West car park for vehicles coming from the south. Drop-offs on the roads around the venue are not allowed, so a coach can't simply unload at the gate and leave. Parking bookings can be cancelled free until the day before, but same-day cancellations aren't accepted and aren't refunded. Accessible parking and spaces for visitors who need extra care are only in the North car park.
When we checked, the Japanese access page already linked to the live coach parking booking system, while the English page still said it wasn't ready. Use the Japanese access page, or ask your Japan ground handler to book.
When to Go: Expo 2027 Dates Against the Japan Calendar
The expo runs through cherry blossom season, Golden Week, the summer holidays and two September holiday weekends. Here is how the 2027 calendar lines up.
Opening and cherry blossom
The expo opens on Friday 19 March. Sunday 21 March is Vernal Equinox Day and Monday 22 March is a substitute holiday, so opening weekend is a long weekend in Japan. Cherry blossom follows straight after. Japan Meteorological Agency normals (1991 to 2020) put Yokohama's first blooms on 25 March and full bloom on 1 April, and Tokyo's on 24 March and 31 March. In 2026, Yokohama's cherry trees reached full bloom on 1 April. Opening season and sakura overlap, which is good for the itinerary and hard on Tokyo and Yokohama hotel stock.

Golden Week 2027
According to the Cabinet Office holiday list, Golden Week 2027 is Showa Day on Thursday 29 April, then a five-day run from Saturday 1 May to Wednesday 5 May (Constitution Memorial Day, Greenery Day and Children's Day fall on 3, 4 and 5 May). Expect domestic demand to peak.
The organisers' own busy days
The clearest hint at crowd levels comes from the organisers. Park and ride runs only on the days they class as busy: 29 April; 2, 3, 23, 29 and 30 May; 6 and 13 June; 14 and 15 August; and 4, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 23, 25 and 26 September. Nine of those 19 days are in September, the final month. If a group can choose, avoid the September weekends and the national holidays on 20 and 23 September.
Summer
The Summer Pass covers 1 July to 31 August. Summer in Yokohama is hot. JMA normals give an average daily high of 31.0°C in August and 29.4°C in July, with average humidity around 76% to 78%. For families and older clients, a morning slot or the 17:00 slot is kinder than midday. September is Yokohama's wettest month on average, at 241.5 mm.
| Period | What's happening | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 19 to 22 March | Opening day plus a three-day holiday weekend | Expect queues; book slots and shuttles early |
| Late March to early April | Cherry blossom in Tokyo and Yokohama | Book hotels first, then expo slots |
| 29 April, 1 to 5 May | Golden Week | Avoid for groups if possible |
| May to June | Several busy weekends; rainfall rising into June | Weekdays are the safer choice |
| July to August | Summer Pass period; heat and humidity | Morning or 17:00 slots; Night Ticket for evening visits |
| September | Final month; nine of the 19 busy days; two national holidays | Book early or steer clients to weekdays |
Our best time to visit Japan guide has the rest of the year month by month.
Who Expo 2027 Yokohama Suits
Match the product to the client before you sell it.
- Garden and horticulture lovers. The core audience. Pair the expo with Sankei-en, a traditional Japanese garden in Yokohama's Naka Ward that opened in 1906, for a two-day garden theme.
- Families. Children aged 3 and under go free, a child ticket is ¥1,400 in advance, and the site plan includes a Kids Village. Families on Summer Pass dates should plan around the heat.
- Seniors. No senior discount is offered. The site is large, so build in rest time. The organisers publish accessibility information, and accessible parking is in the North car park.
- School groups. School group tickets exist at ¥1,700 for high school and ¥900 for younger pupils, for school groups as the organisers define them. Overseas schools should confirm eligibility with an authorised seller before you quote the school rate.
- MICE and incentive groups. Group tickets start at 15 people, coach parking is bookable, and a group visit fits neatly into a Tokyo or Yokohama programme. See our notes on MICE venue booking for the rest of the trip.
- Repeat Japan visitors. Clients who have done the Golden Route want something new. A Yokohama stay with an expo day is a fresh angle for a second or third trip.
It suits clients who like walking outdoors. Clients who only want shopping won't get much from it.
Fitting the Expo Into a Tokyo and Yokohama Itinerary
Treat the expo as a full day. Allow for the shuttle each way, a booked entry slot and a large site. There are two ways to build around it.
Option 1: a day trip from Tokyo
The Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line runs from Shibuya to Minami-machida Grandberry Park, one of the four shuttle stations. For clients staying in Tokyo, that makes the expo a feasible day trip without changing hotels. It's a long day, though, and the train and shuttle times need to line up with the booked entry slot.
Option 2: a Yokohama base
For most clients, one or two nights in Yokohama work better. Three areas stand out, and each has a link to the expo:
- Yokohama Station: the Sotetsu Main Line starts here and runs to Mitsukyo and Seya, both shuttle stations. A direct bus from Yokohama Station is also planned.
- Minato Mirai: the waterfront business and leisure district, between Yokohama Station and Kannai. A direct bus from the Minato Mirai and Kannai area is planned.
- Shin-Yokohama: a stop on the Tokaido Shinkansen and on the JR Yokohama Line, which serves Tokaichiba shuttle station. A direct bus is planned from here too, which makes Shin-Yokohama practical for clients arriving from Kyoto or Osaka.
Direct bus timetables, fares and booking haven't been announced, so don't sell them as confirmed yet. Quote the shuttle route and note the direct bus as a possible upgrade.
On hotels, our advice is simple. Book Tokyo and Yokohama rooms for cherry blossom, Golden Week and the September weekends as early as you can, and hold rooms for group dates before you confirm expo slots. We aren't quoting occupancy figures, because nobody has credible ones yet. Japan hotel rates are on our Japan hotels page.
Sample one-day plan from a Yokohama hotel
- 08:30: leave the hotel near Yokohama Station and take the Sotetsu Main Line to Seya.
- 09:15: board the pre-booked shuttle bus for the 10 to 25 minute ride.
- 10:30 slot: enter. Start with the Japan Pavilion and Garden and the Horticultural Pavilion while the day is cooler.
- Midday: lunch at the venue, then the International Zone gardens.
- Afternoon: the Themed Pavilion, or a viewing reservation if one of the chosen exhibits uses them.
- 16:30: pre-booked return shuttle to Seya, then back to Yokohama.
- Evening: dinner on the Minato Mirai waterfront.
Adjust the times to the actual shuttle bookings.
Sample 4 nights / 5 days: Tokyo, Yokohama and the expo
- Day 1, arrive Tokyo: airport transfer from Haneda or Narita to a Tokyo hotel.
- Day 2, Tokyo: a city tour. In late March or early April, build in a cherry blossom stop.
- Day 3, Tokyo to Yokohama: transfer to a Yokohama hotel with luggage. Afternoon at Sankei-en or a Minato Mirai walk. Overnight Yokohama.
- Day 4, GREEN×EXPO 2027: full day using the plan above. Overnight Yokohama.
- Day 5, depart: transfer to the airport. Allow extra time if clients have tax-free shopping to process.

For longer trips, add Kyoto and Osaka using our Tokyo–Kyoto–Osaka agent guide, or start from our sample Japan itineraries. You can book airport and intercity transfers and Tokyo tours on the same platform.
Group Logistics: What Tour Leaders Need to Know
Groups have the most to lose from a missed booking. Brief tour leaders on these points:
- Three bookings, not one. Admission slot, shuttle or coach parking, and hotel. Confirm all three before you issue final documents.
- One gate. The organisers currently plan a single entrance gate, so allow queueing time at peak slots.
- QR codes per person. One phone can show everyone's codes, but each code is scanned one at a time. Printed codes are faster.
- Re-entry. The organisers say they're working towards allowing re-entry, but it isn't confirmed. Don't promise it.
- Heat and rain. Summer heat and September rain both affect an outdoor site. Pack water and rain gear into the briefing.
- Coach drop-off. No pick-ups or drop-offs on surrounding roads. The coach must use its booked car park.
Our guide on how to book group tours covers the wider group process.
Japan Costs to Re-Check in Your Expo Quotes
Two national changes affect any 2027 Japan package. Japan's International Tourist Tax, the departure tax, rose from ¥1,000 to ¥3,000 per departure from 1 July 2026, collected in the air or ship ticket (see the Japan Tourism Agency notice). And from 1 November 2026, tax-free shopping becomes a refund system with a customs check at the departure airport, which changes departure-day timing. We cover both in our Japan tax-free changes briefing for agents.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Expo 2027 Yokohama dates and opening hours?
GREEN×EXPO 2027 runs from Friday 19 March to Sunday 26 September 2027, a total of 192 days. The venue is open from 9:30 to 21:30, and last admission is scheduled for 21:00. It's held at the former Kamiseya Communication Facility in Yokohama's Seya and Asahi wards.
How much are Green Expo 2027 tickets?
An advance one-day ticket costs ¥4,900 for adults, ¥3,000 for ages 12 to 17 and ¥1,400 for ages 4 to 11, on sale until 18 March 2027. From 19 March 2027 the regular one-day price is ¥5,500 for adults. Night Tickets (entry after 17:00) are ¥3,500, a Summer Pass is ¥12,000 and a Season Pass is ¥28,000. Children aged 3 and under go free.
Do visitors need to book a time slot?
Yes. Every ticket needs a visit date and entry time booked on the official ticket website, and bookings opened on 18 September 2026. Slots run hourly from 9:30 to 14:30, plus a 17:00 slot. Visitors can enter any time after their booked slot on that day. Without a booking, entry depends on slots being left.
How do visitors get to the Expo 2027 site?
There is no station at the site. Pre-booked shuttle buses run from Seya and Mitsukyo stations (Sotetsu Main Line), Minami-machida Grandberry Park (Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line) and Tokaichiba (JR Yokohama Line), taking about 10 to 25 minutes for ¥200 per adult. Coaches and cars must book parking. Direct buses from Shin-Yokohama, Yokohama Station, Minato Mirai and Haneda Airport are planned, but details aren't out yet.
Can travel agencies buy group tickets for Expo 2027 Japan?
Group tickets for 15 or more people (¥5,200 per adult) are generally bought through an authorised ticket agency after a provisional booking. The official website caps each purchase at 14 tickets and doesn't sell packages, and unauthorised resale is prohibited. Companies can apply to the organisers to become authorised sellers until 19 July 2027.
When is the best time for clients to visit?
Weekdays outside the peaks are easiest. Late March to early April adds cherry blossom but also hotel pressure. Golden Week (29 April and 1 to 5 May 2027) and September weekends are the busiest, according to the organisers' park-and-ride calendar. July and August are hot, so morning or evening slots suit families and older travellers.
